Sale of Ilford Liberal ClubThe Solicitors, acting on behalf of Ilford Liberal Club, were engaged by the Trustees when the club first closed with regard to the registration of the club premises with HM Land Registry. As part of the application, the opinion of a Barrister was sought due to the niche peculiarities of the unincorporated association and its membership which has arisen over the period the club has existed. The opinion given assisted with the registration.Subsequently, the Solicitors together with Savills, acting as agent for the sale, were instructed to undertake the sale of the club premises. A satisfactory sale has been completed but now the tax affairs of the club, both at its dissolution and its sale capital will have to be negotiated with HMRC. This will involve a specialist company together with the accountant.Once the above details have been finalised, the specialist company will locate, notify and confirm the legality of all the members entitled to a share of the remaining proceeds. Until the above process has been completed, no further information will be given in order to avoid speculation regarding any final benefits payable to eligible club members. Please note that the Club property has been sold and completion was on the 23rd July 2024. It may take some time to be recorded by the Land Registry. All financial matters regarding the sale will be conducted by a Business Recovery and Insolvency specialist and the Trustees and club administrators will have no direct handling of the sale proceeds. Legal matters take time and no further information is available.Alan J Palmer, on behalf of the Trustees
